I had never heard of White Lodging before going to the Career Fair at my school. I was looking for a summer internship in the Chicagoland area. I wanted to work somewhere that taught me more about my industry. Since I had already worked at three properties, I wanted a “step up in the world.”
After my initial interview, I had a phone interview with Michael Hunt, and he offered me a position as an intern at his property for the summer. After that summer, I was hooked. I don’t know if it was Michael’s amazing ability to teach, or the atmosphere of the hotel, but I knew that White Lodging was where I wanted to be.
The next summer, I called Michael, and he took me back for a second internship. This time, I was a housekeeping supervisor. I loved the hotel, and I loved my job. I was empowered to take care of the guests.
During my senior year of college, I went to the recruiting event hosted by White Lodging for college graduates. I was offered a position and accepted it soon after. From there, I started as a Housekeeping Manager of a full service hotel. Then I became an Assistant General Manager for a Residence Inn. And now, I am in downtown Chicago as a Front Office Manager.
I have always loved how White Lodging says that they are not the company for everyone. It makes me proud to know that I work for a company that challenges people.
