My story is not like the rest. During my freshman year at Purdue University, I attended a few hotel recruiting presentations but was still leery about jumping feet first into the hotel industry. When summer was near I needed to get a summer internship, I knew I wanted to go back home to Indianapolis, so I looked at the biggest and best hotel, the Indy Marriott. Little did I know it was managed by White Lodging. Coincidentally, this was one of the hotel presentations I had attended during my freshman year. I remembered they had an amazing partnership with Purdue and were a highly recommended hotel company to work for.
I landed an internship in Event Operations, working in both Banquets and Event Management. Throughout the summer, not only did I have a great boss, but he was also a wonderful mentor. He helped me understand and enjoy the White Lodging Way. I continued working at the hotel throughout my college career.
When it was finally time for me to settle down and get a job, I put all my eggs in one basket and hoped for the best with White Lodging. After starting as a Banquet Manager, I moved on to be the Restaurant Event Manager. I was then asked to help task force at the Richmond Marriott where I was asked to stay and work in Event Management.
White Lodging has always been an amazing company to work for. They set high standard and give you the tools to achieve them. Throughout my years with White Lodging, I have always felt a sense of family where there is support and encouragement.
